Latvia is one of Baltic states, located in northeast of Europe nearby Baltic sea and sharing borders with Lithuania, Byelorussia, Russia and Estonia. former republic of USSR it's again an independent country since 10 years and most of europeans can cross border without any visa. sceners from Russia, Ukraine and Byelorussia will most likely need a visa to enter though, check before coming.

how to get to Riga and to partyplace once in Riga?

from Baltic states:

i> and thats all! there's nothing much to tell - you know yourself! just skip to the section entitled "how to find partyplace within monster Riga?"

from Scandinavia:

i> you can take plane and i guess you can find info on these easy. however there are cheaper ways to get over.

ii> Riga Sealine should be the best way over from Sweden and it costs 1135 SEK both ways (Stockholm - Riga - Stockholm), unfortunately they are closing this line for a while, the last chance to come over to Riga is on 18th september. alternatively, you can try Tallink for Stockholm - Tallinn and then take bus (~300km, 4 hours, 30 euro both ways)

iii> from Helsinki, there are two ferry-lines, unfortunetely both going to Tallinn only so an additional bus ride (~300km, 4 hours, 30 euro both ways) is needed. as about ferries, one is Eckeroline and other one is Tallink, prices doesnt differ much, around 40 euro both directions.

from ex-USSR:

i> screw planes they cost too much and there are nicer options, you know
ii> yes, trains! at least in Moscow or Saint-Petersburg you can climb in direct train to Riga and it won't cost much
iii> there are also buses (Ecolines and Eurolines) going the way we need, you can get direct ride from many cities in Russia, Ukraine and Byelorussia

from the rest of Europe:

i> its great fun to travel with car and thats what you can do, just request route in the interactive section
ii>there are buslines (Ecolines and Eurolines) from Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Germany, France, Poland, Czechia, Austria, Greece, Italy, Norway, UK, Portugal, Switzerland, Spain and these are mostly incredibly cheap

iii> ofcourse, use plane as last resort.. or hitch-hike like real men do ;)

from the rest of the world:

i> take planes
ii> if you are born under lucky star, you might find a ship to come with (and be our hero)

now the partyplace comes..

there is a nice 3-floor building in the territory of radioelectronics factory VEF (Valsts Elektrotehniskaa Fabrika). check these nice photos from the very same area.. VEF is located on the edge of city center, maybe 3-4 km from central train station and you can get there utilising map of Riga or just taking tram # 6, buses # 1, 14, 16, 21, 32 or trolleys # 4, 7, 13, 14, 17 and getting out next station after crossing bridge. there are more possibilites to get to the partyplace but this way you will get most close to it. territory itself is quite large though, take a look at VEF's map. actual address of place is berzaunes 7a aka section 19 tho' you might still be confused looking for the exact place, so here are some hints:

i> move in the direction of music (and its gonna be loud)
ii> look out for signs, there will be lot of them
iii> ask some freaks around
