Non-reasons to become DPL

Neil McGovern promised free beer in his "Bits from DPL" 2015

Reasons to become DPL

   1. Previous year only one candidate
   2. Problems I've seen remaining unaddressed for years
   3. Private reasons

 ->2.1. ftpmaster
        1. Mailing list
        2. Wiki
        3. Chatting with ftpmaster
        4. What now?

How can we simplify ftpmaster tasks
       * Ensure free software *only* consider lack of
copyright statements just a (RC) bug
       * providing tools to remove packages

   2.2. Teams
         Single maintainer is preventing contributions
          finally restricting freedom to contribute
        -> Michael Stapelberg

Neil McGovern quoted in 2015 Phil Hands: Next DPL could be
auto-response-bot: "That sounds interesting. I look forward to seeing the results."

DebConf is always great!

Is Debian relevant
    popcon of libc
possibly only distribution with 64 bit time_t for ARM32 bit

Finding common workflows between volunteers is very hard

Excurse about things we have trouble to understand.

  * Our brain was made to keep us alive in two ways:
     1. Run towards something you want to eat
     2. Run away from something that wants to eat you
% Probably to long (In modern times, humans often choose to eliminate threats instead of just running away.)
  * Our brain was not made to understand things like quantum mechanics.
  * Quantum mechanics is absolutely counterintuitive to our day-to-day life.
  * However, we can do calculations that lead to results we can prove.
  * Your smartphone is proof that we can do effective calculations that work.
  * If I were a teacher in school, I would provide the message about quantum mechanics:
Just do not try to "understand" it, just accept that science might be in conflict with your day-to-day life.

  * In Debian communication we observe lots of communication failures since
people do not understand each other
  * I try to follow this principle: If a person gives me clear
signals that she/he/them wants to be treated in a certain way than I
simply do so - or at least try as hard as possible and once I made a
    failure I stand to it
  * The basis of our communication should be respect and accepting each
    other to work together successfully
